Liquid Propane
About LP
Propane is a gas at normal room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Propane will liquefy under pressure and will readily vaporize upon release of the pressure. Liquid propane is shipped from refineries in railcars and cargo tanks to the propane distributor's bulk storeage facility. The propane distributor delivers propane to customers by bulk trucks that fill cylinders and tanks located at the customers' home, place of work, or dispensing facilities located within the neighborhood. Bulk plants can vary in size and are equipped with a variety of different piping, pumping, and compressor confirgurations. It is very important that prior to working on propane storage or transfer equipment, the gas technician is familar with the normal operation and what to do in the event of an emergency.
